Vegetarian Dishes Shine at Gabbar Bar & Bistro’s Diwali 2020 Menu
Modern Indian restaurant in Singapore, Gabbar Bistro & Bar, has curated 9 must-try dishes to celebrate Diwali 2020!
We have to start with the all-new Indian-Fusion Dal Burrata (S$24). Dal makhani (black lentils with butter), a staple at every Indian household, has been perfectly married with the all-time favourite Burrata, creating a fusion dish that has turned out to be a real winner!
Non-vegetarian lovers can look forward to Gabbar’s Shikampuri Lamb Chops (S$26) which is inspired by the Royal Corridors of Hyderabad, marinated with hung curd and spices, succulent in every bite. Another highlight is Gabbar’s Murg Gulabi Tikka (S$22) which is a combination of two popular Indian flavours - rose and cardamom. Understanding that local Singaporeans love their Dalchas with their Roti, the culinary team at Gabbar has created a Dalcha Chicken (S$26) which is a delicious boneless chicken cooked in creamy lentil gravy.
Having said all that, I must rave about the fabulous vegetarian dishes on the Diwali menu that are every bit as creative and delicious as their meat counterparts. I know that vegetarians tend to miss out on kebabs at most Indian restaurants because they are kind of an afterthought on the menu. You won’t be disappointed by Gabbar’s Mushroom Galouti (S$22) - melt-in-your-mouth kebabs mounted made from Kashmiri button mushrooms, mounted on a crispy papdi and topped with tangy pineapple sauce.
I couldn’t get enough of Gabbar’s Paneer Paan Patta (S$22) - tender pieces of cottage cheese infused with subtle flavours of betel leaf that is generally considered an addiction amongst Indians. If you are a paneer lover like me, Gabbar’s vegetarian main course this Diwali also includes Paneer Pasanda (S$24) - a rich curry of fried cottage cheese stuffed with Khoya (thickened milk), dry fruits, dunked in creamy golden brown gravy.
Kolhapuri (S$22) is a bowl of vegetables tossed in the famous Kolhapuri Masala, a Maharashtrian speciality for spice fanatics. The Amritsari Makai Palak (S$24) is a nutritious bowl of Amritsari corn tossed in smooth spinach gravy, paired perfectly with Gabbar’s Chilli or Turmeric Parathas.
Bollywood buffs will love the ambience of Gabbar with their Hindi and Punjabi numbers playing in the background and putting you in just the right mood for Diwali. Do check out their menu for a chuckle at their creative Bollywood puns such as “andar ka lava phat ke bahar aane de” (Molten Lava Cake) and “desi bread videshi hoshiyari” (Olive and Cheese Kulcha).
